Dwell

{This picture has nothing to do with the post, I just love my Mia GLORY!}

I started a new bible study on Tuesday mornings that is an in depth study of Psalm 91 for the next 7 weeks.

This last Tuesday was the first week and it was spent studying and learning, just the first verse--Because it holds that much power and meaning.

As I was sitting here doing some of the study and reading over the verse, I was quickened to share it, as it continues to take hold of my life and transform my heart. My desire is not to be a christian who visits the things of God every now and then, but to be seriously committed to not only the things of Him but the Lord, Himself.

Psalm 91:1 "He Who Dwells in the Secret Place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [whose power no foe can withstand]"

How many times have you read and said that verse? I know I've said it many times and heard it many times, but I've never realized what it truly meant. You know I'm a big word's girl, and I love, love, love to find out the definition of a word. What I found to be most interesting is the part of the study on the word "dwell".

Dwell: to sit down, remain, settle, continue, endure {in Him}

Do you have up and down days? Are your moods gauged by your circumstances and so they are unstable? To dwell in the Lord means to be stable and fixed--regardless of those things.

The secret place is a place of hiding and protection.

So how do we dwell in the secret place?

Communion with Him. Our prayer life is a form of dwelling. Stable and continuous. We don't have to stop at our "one-a-day" prayer time, but instead we can talk and commune with God through out our day, in whatever we are doing. We dwell in Him- through prayer.

Here is part of what I've printed to put on my fridge, so that I can remember to confess it each time I see it. And with my two snackers, that's a lot ;)

"Because I choose to dwell in the secret place of the most high, My life shall remain STABLE and FIXED"

This means when the day gets a little tough, when circumstances say other wise, when you hear a discouraging report...you remain stable and fixed--under the cover of the Most High.

And guess what else...the Most High means no one or no thing is higher! He will do for you what you can not do for yourself, if you will humble yourself and dwell in Him, in His word and in His secret place through union and communion.

Start off your day with this prayer and confession, get it deep in your heart and then go on about your day knowing that you are covered---your in the shadow of the Almighty- All sufficient one!

DWELL in Him. Be fixed, stable and remain in Him.

I hope this speaks to you like it does to me!

Much Love!

Oh! I also got the kids workbook to go through the study with the kids over the next few weeks. It's called "Psalm 91:1-2 Making Your Heart a Home for God"
It's available here
We're going to start it today and I'll share some of it here as well if you'd like to implement it with your children!
