Memory Boxes for Project Hope. Want to help? Here's How!

I am so sorry for not posting this yesterday. I just got off the phone with my contact at Threads of Love. I wish you all could hear this sweet older woman talk. You would want to hug her right through the phone like I do every time I talk with her.

She is so sweet and so thankful for what we are doing through Project Hope. When I talked to her, she was in the middle of their "ministry day" where all the women get together and sew, crochet and put these memory boxes together. Gosh the thought of these sweet women working together for someone like me and all other moms who have lost overwhelms me beyond words...

I wanted to run all of my ideas past her first, so I waited till today to post this list. If you are able to donate any of these items, simply email me at bitsofsplendor {at} yahoo {dot} com. And please put "Project Hope" in the subject line. Please include the specific item you would like to donate.

I will return all emails today and tomorrow. I can not wait to get started on these y'all.

Here is the list of items needed for inside the box:

-Tiny crochet hats and booties for shadow boxes {25 sets of blue or 25 sets of pink}
-Small teddy bear
-Small cross charm to be worn on a necklace or bracelet
-Small token coins with word Hope hand stamped.
-Christmas ornament
-Small lovie blanket
-Small bag with pink or blue ribbon for a lock of hair {25 of each color}
-Tags for hair lock bags with scripture verse- Matthew 10:30 "For even the very hairs on your head are numbered"
-A small print with the verse Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to bring you HOPE and a future"
-Each box will include a printed prayer as well that has been donated. I will be showing them to you when we get it complete. Moms can frame this prayer as a memory as well.
-Burial gowns are also made for the baby and put into the box. If you are able to make these very tiny gowns, please email me and I will give you details.

My goal is to have 50 boxes made and completed. That includes decorating the boxes.

To decorate boxes:
any craft supplies
scrap book paper and other supplies
pearls
lace
ribbon
anything you can thing of to make the box special.

We will hold a craft night here in San Antonio where we will assemble all of the boxes as well as decorate them. Details for this to come!

Monetary donations may also be made and will go toward the purchase of craft supplies for the boxes. I will have a paypal link up on my sidebar soon. Any questions? Email me at bitsofsplendor {at} yahoo {dot} com.

I look forward to getting started and am so excited to see where God takes this! My heart is so full y'all.

  2. I read about Threads of Love when you were a guest poster on another blog, I googled it and found out that there is no chapter where I live. So, I am in the process of starting up a chapter here. I have not experienced a loss like you have but I had a misscarriage in July, I could not even begin to imagine what you went through but I thought Threads of Love was a wonderful idea.

  4. we just lost our baby boy at 24 weeks this month and it has been the hardest thing i have ever gone through. the little things we got from a local group called "share" was such a blessing. they do a similar thing as these boxes and it means so much to us. i would love to do blankets or something if you are still in need of that, let me know.
